Episodes in Focus: Lies My Parents Told Me/Inside Out
It's time for two shiny new Episodes in Focus. Next week we are looking at Lies My Parents Told Me and Inside Out. Weighty, bloody episodes, filled with questionable decisions and murderous impulse, and some bad, bad mothering. So from Monday your time, get sharing whatever you have to share on these new Episodes in Focus.

Episode in Focus: Lies My Parents Told Me
In which we see a little more of Spike-as-William's background. The sweet boy, the loving son, the vengeful spurned lover - and the guy who just wanted to save his mother, but found he'd done something very different. And we see more of Robin, who couldn't save his mother, and just what he might do to exact vengeance for that. And Giles, who is nobody's father, but who lies to Buffy just like a real parent.

(This is also, fact fans, an episode which should run parallel with Orpheus, so Willow's offscreen resouling Angel for much of the ep – that's one balancing element of the Scoobies out of the picture.)

Key quote*:
DRUSILLA
Ooh, such a pretty house you have, sweet William. It smells of daffodils...and viscera.
WILLIAM
Don't get too attached, now. (twirls her) Won't be here for long, luv.
DRUSILLA
Well then... (pats the seat beside her) should we give it a proper goodbye? (growls seductively)
WILLIAM
You're a saucy one, aren't you? (sits beside her, kissing her passionately, grabs her up in his arms, and flings her across his lap, leaning in to kiss her again) Dru...we'll bring this world to its knees.
DRUSILLA
It's ripe and ready, my darling, waiting for us to devour its fruit.
WILLIAM
We'll ravage this city together, my pet. Lay waste to all of Europe. The three of us will teach those snobs and elitists with their falderal just what—
DRUSILLA
Three?
WILLIAM
You, me, and mother. We'll open up their veins and bathe in their blood as they scream our names across— (he notices Dru's expression) What?
DRUSILLA
You...you want to bring your mum with us?
WILLIAM
Well, yeah. You'll like her.

We had two irresistible candidates for key quotes this week. But the other has just been GIF-ed here - So, he has a trigger, a soul and a chip? - so you can enjoy that version too!

Episode in Focus: Inside Out
Okay, this is a toughie. I'm not going to lie. We have the apex of evil!Cordy, revealed for what 'she' really is. We have demon/mystical pregnancy, and somehow someone needs to find a way to bring it to birth. We have Connor, more confused and conflicted than any human being should ever be, remembering his own mystical mother-killing birth just last year. And we have three other characters: a nameless, blameless virgin from the streets of LA; good ol' Skip, the hilarious demon that gave Cordy her new destiny*; and, for one final appearance, Darla.

Who's going to win this one, kids? Give you a clue: it won't be Connor.

Key quote:
SKIP
Uh, not since her ascension. Oh, it was beautiful. Should've been there.
ANGEL
You were a part of that?
SKIP
It's in the job description. As Cordelia's guide I'm there for all the important events.
ANGEL
Except her welcome back party. (suspiciously) So why didn't the Powers invite you to that one?
SKIP
Mysterious ways. They can really drive a guy nuts.
ANGEL
Or maybe if you had known something you might've warned us. No, about the only one not keen on that slipping out is the one pulling her strings.
SKIP
Not following you there, champ.
ANGEL
You said it yourself, you were there. Guiding Cordelia to her ascension, seeing her off to a higher plane which is exactly where this thing needed her to be to make its move. So, I'm thinking either you've been played for a dupe like the rest of us or you've been in on this from the start, Skippy.
(Skip laughs nervously. Angel joins in the laughter, sarcastically.)
SKIP
Angel, buddy, whatever's going on, I'm telling you true... (raises his forearm in front of him, triggers a dagger to be released from his armor) Not a dupe.
